Over the past decade the Middle East has been one of the world’s most stable regions for economic growth. Average annual container traffic growth was 11.5% between 2001 and 2011, according to Drewry Shipping Consultants, while gateway and transhipment traffic registered a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.7% and 11.4% respectively.
