Further expansion on the cards in Vlissingen

As reported in last month’s WorldCargo News, (p19), the first phase of Scaldia Container Terminal (SCT) in Vlissingen (Flushing) is scheduled to be ready in the second quarter of 2010. The Belgian joint venture partners, Sea-Invest (70%) and Zuidnatie (30%) have a target for 1M TEU/year and say they are aiming for water mode (feeder, shortsea and inland barge operations) to account for no less than 65% of deepsea containers handled.
