French intermodal takes a step forward

After several months of trials (World-Cargo News, April 2007, p41), the first commercial Rolling Motorway service between Le Boulou (Perpignan) and Bettembourg (Luxembourg) has been started by Lorry-Rail.

As previously reported, this 1000 kms service is the first of a number of planned routes by the Lorry-Rail consortium and, in addition, it been suggested that the technology (based on Modalohr wagons) should form part of a ship-rail link in connection with the official Franco-Spanish sea motorway project.
