Kazakhstan plans new China-Russia transit route
NewsKazakhstan is developing a new trade route from China to Russia via the Irtysh River, with a port and railway planned, aiming for completion by 2026.
Last year’s shake-up of National Container Company (WorldCargo News, December 2006, p1 and March 2007, p10) has brought about a fundamental change in the ownership and the general situation of the Russian container handling market. NCC, set up in 2002, was the country’s biggest container terminal operator, with a total throughput of 1.3M TEU in 2006.
