Box builders in dumping probe

The world’s two biggest container manufacturers, China International Mar ine Containers (CIMC) and Singamas Container Holdings, are under investigation by US authorities over the alleged dumping of 53ft US domestic containers.

The action follows the filing of an unfair trade petition with the US Department of Commerce (DOC) and the US International Trade Commission (ITC) by US domcon manufacturer Stoughton Trailers that accuses Chinese manufacturers of dumping 53ft boxes in the US market at unreasonably low prices that are subsidised by the Chinese government. The alleged dumping margin is 84.07% with an estimated subsidy rate of not less than 2%.
