Control Techniques, part of Emerson Industrial Automation, has won a contract to modernise the control system on two “Starporter” STS cranes at Grup TCB’s Terminal de Contenedores de Yucatán (TCY) concession in Progreso, Mexico. The cranes, which are 37 years old, were shipped from Seattle seven years ago.

Emerson Industrial Automation has been awarded a contract to modernise the drive system on a 1994-built Paceco Portainer crane at Puerto Cortés, Honduras. The crane, owned by Empresa Nacional Portuaria (ENP), is currently out of service.

Control Techniques, part of Emerson Industrial Automation, says that a new product it has launched has the potential to eliminate the need for two high power long travel drives, and cut the capital costs of crane control systems accordingly.
