Tangiers delayed

A consortium made up of APM Terminals (APMT), Bolloré Africa Logistics and Bouygues has been named the preferred bidder to manage a second container terminal at the Port of Abidjan.

The Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC) has launched a month-long evaluation of two consortia’s technical and financial bids to build a new US$700M port at Jordan’s maritime hub on the Red Sea.

The proposed US$1 bill Tanger (Tangier) container port project is claimed to have attracted international “majors” for the first container terminal concession, which is scheduled for award in October this year (see WorldCargo News February 2003, p9). The Kingdom of Morocco also plans to invite bids for a second container terminal in October.

Another bidder has withdrawn from the race to acquire the Ports Corporation of South Australia, leaving just two groups vying for the business…
