The prospect of a new deepwater container port at Wilhelmshaven may be fading despite Eurogate Group’s continued lobbying. Showing his concern, Eurogate chairman Thomas Eckelmann has reiterated his view that there is an “absolute need” for the new facility. However, the dominant force in Hamburg, HHLA, seems intent on “hurrying slowly.”
