Green light for rail sales

The long-delayed sales of Australia’s National Rail Corporation (NRC) and New South Wales’ FreightCorp finally seem likely to proceed after Australian Prime Minister John Howard personally intervened to break a deadlock between the federal and NSW governments. The federal government will now support a pre-sale merger of the two entities.
