The planned introduction in 2012 of new security legislation requiring all US-bound containers to be screened at their foreign port of origin has sparked global opposition.

The demand for non-intrusive cargo scanning technology is greater than ever as US authorities plan for mandatory screening of all inbound containers at their foreign port of origin.

As ports/terminals and land borders contemplate the ongoing threat of “container terrorism” and tackle increased levels of freight transport crime, they are investing more heavily than ever in non-intrusive inspection technology, including X-ray or gamma-ray scanning machines and radiation detectors.
