CIMC USA, a subsidiary of China International Marine Container Ltd, is attempting to leverage its position as the largest supplier of intermodal chassis in the US to enter the tyre market. It has started CIMC Commercial Tires to offer retread tyres for intermodal trailers (chassis) in the US.

The governor of the Mexican state of Nayarit, Robert Sandoval, has announced plans to build a new port – Puerto Nayarit. This would require finance of US$3.6B, with funding to be provided by China Machinery, China Merchants Holding, China International Marine Container and Qtraid. If the port is built, it will be the only one on the North/Central American continent, according to the governor, able to accommodate 18,000 TEU vessels.
