Haldia berth progress

News-in-print

Haldia Dock’s Berth 4 at Kolkata Port in India, which is being constructed by International Seaports Ltd (ISPL), a subsidiary of construction giant Larsen & Toubro Ltd, on a build, operate and transfer basis, is expected to be commissioned in November.

The berth will have a capacity to handle 3 mill tons of dry bulk cargo per annum mainly for stateowned Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL), which is currently using Berth 5 at Haldia. “We are examining how best Berth 5 can be used once it is freed from SAIL’s operations,” said ML Meena, deputy chairman of the Kolkata Port Trust (KPT).
