Duraloc gets CROPS off the ground
UK-based specialist locking and interlocking twistlock manufacturer Duraloc Ltd has developed and patented a self-locking coupling system for CROPS and PLS hooklift pallets, which allows standard 20ft x 8ft pallets to be split at the centreline into two 10ft x 8ft units suitable for air transportation.
The coupling comprises a large diameter tapered guide pin, which is automatically locked into the receiving section when fully engaged by a spring-biased collar. A secondary pretensioning system is provided to remove all sag at the joint for normal 20ft operations. The unit can, however, be operated without pretension in situations where rapid coupling and operation is required.
