A deal to restructure troubled Rift Valley Railways (RVR), which operates freight and most passenger rail services in Kenya and Uganda, has finally been completed.

Egyptian firm Citadel Capital has taken a 51% controlling stake in RVR via its Ambiance Ventures subsidiary. The remaining equity is held by Trans-Century Ltd of Kenya (34%) and Uganda’s Bomi Holdings Ltd (15%).
