Carriers return to ordering

The past month has seen Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) and MSC confirm their plans to order new ships, with several other carriers thought to be reviewing the situation. The latest moves follow CMA CGM’s recent decision to order six 22,000 TEU vessels, with options for three more units, from China State Shipbuilding Corp-controlled yards – Hudong-Zhonghua and Shanghai Waigaoqiao.
