The South African Transport & Allied Workers’ Union (Satawu) claims that it has evidence that transport utility Transnet plans to privatise the nation’s ports. The company has offered concessions to operate some railway branch lines, ship repair facilities and accommodation units, which Satawu insists is a first step towards port terminal privatisation.
