SeaLand set to start US/Mexico service

SeaLand, the Intra-Americas regional ocean carrier arm of Denmark’s Maersk Line, is to start a new service linking Mexico’s Atlantic coast with ports in the north east of the US. The weekly SeaLand Atlantico service will use two vessels of about 1,300 TEU capacity. According to the carrier’s management, it will offer a highly competitive alternative to truck and rail-based links. Currently, these two transport modes are estimated to account for 95% of cargo movements.
