All items in terminal operators’ maintenance budgets have come under closer scrutiny. Even tyres, which previously were usually regarded purely as “disposables” (or “consumables”) along with air or filters, fan belts, etc as components that must perioidically be replaced, now command much more attention and there is greater focus not only on tyre repair but also on tyre life and, in some casess, better driver training and supervision to achieve it.
