Antwerp will soon be the starting point for new rail freight routes to Istanbul by XPO Logistics and to Madrid by Kombiverkehr.

Frankfurt-based Kombiverkehr KG is expanding its intermodal rail services in Sweden and will from mid-January be including calls at Hallsberg, Norrköping and Stockholm Norra (Rosersberg, which is located about 30km north of the city). Previously, Kombiverkehr’s operations in the country were confined to terminals in Gothenburg, Malmö and Trelleborg.

An initiative of the Swedish Ministry of Rural Affairs and Infrastructure to promote modal shift awaits approval from the European Commission. Separately, Kombiverkehr is set to increase its coverage of the Swedish market

Bertschi AG and Kombiverkehr KG are now exchanging bookings via the KV4.0 data hub. Intermodal transports in Kombiverkehr’s network were successfully booked in via the new IT solution for the first time towards the end of April

GLS Parcels Group has used rail for trunk haul between Nuremberg and Hanover, shipping 1,000 parcels in C-type swap bodies, in cooperation with Kombiverkehr
