Kirow Leipzig, which owns the Kranbau Eberswalde (KE) and Kocks crane marques, recently relocated a Kocks type DWK slewing crane from the Elbe port of Brunsbüttel to the Rhine port of Düsseldorf. The crane, with a capacity of 24t-20m/12t-40m and integrated hopper, dates from 1970, but had undergone extensive modernisation in the past. The cab and all the electric controls had been renewed and the planetary gears overhauled.

Ukraine’s Novokramatorsk Machine Works (NKMZ) recently delivered a 16t-36m portal crane to the Crimean Port of Feodosia. The crane was developed by NKMZ in co-operation with Germany-based Kranbau Eberswalde AG, on the basis of the established Sokol (“Falcon”) model. It has ac frequency control regenerative drives, claimed to reduce energy consumption by 30%.

The Vietnamese Ministry of Transport has begun approving new locations for many of Ho Chi Minh City’s 30 ports, most of which must move from current locations on rivers in the Saigon Area by 2010. Three new sites have been approved: the Soai Rap River in the Hiep Phuoc district of HCMC and the Cai Mep and Thi Vai rivers in neighbouring Ba Ria-Vung Tau province.

Germany-based KE Kranbau Eberswalde AG has won an international tender to design a new line of portal cranes for Ukrainian seaports, following a tender staged by the Ukrainian Transport Ministry within the framework of its national merchant seaport development programme to 2010. Five other international companies are understood to have participated in the tender.

Kranbau Eberswalde recently handed over two more Feeder Server container gantry cranes to Saigon New Port in Ho Chi Minh City.
