MSC sets up rail subsidiary

MSC has set up a subsidiary, MSC Rail, in Portugal to operate container block trains between the port of Sines and freight terminals at Bobadela (Loures) and Entroncamento. The move, explained MSC Portugal’s president Carlos Vasconcelos, was made because of uncertainties surrounding the possible privatisation of CP Carga, the freight arm of Portuguese Railways (CP). Doubts have been raised, he said, about future quality and service reliability.
