A former senior public servant and noted policy reformer has been appointed chairman of the Port of Melbourne Corporation (PoMC) in a move widely seen as strengthening the push for channel deepening. Bill Scales took up his appointment on October 1, after former chairman Neil Edwards resigned due to private sector commitments. He remains on the PoMC board.
