Fire breaks out at VCTPL

Dubai Ports International (DPI), which won the concession to build and operate an international container transhipment terminal at Vallarpadam in the south Indian state of Kerala, has issued a fresh proposal about shifting operations from the Rajiv Gandhi Container Terminal in Kochi to Vallarpadam.
DPI has been issued a letter of intent by the Kochi Port Trust (KoPT) and has been mandated to operate the Rajiv Gandhi termi-DPI in a hurry nal and build up traffic there to at least 400,000 TEU/year before transferring to Vallarpadam. No time frame was fixed for moving to the new facility but KoPT and DPI agreed it would not be later than eight years.
