Stolt orders 600 tanks

Stolt-Nielsen Transportation Group (SNTG) has ordered 600 tank containers from China International Marine Containers (CIMC). The 25,000-litre stainless steel units are to be delivered by the Nantong-based builder by the end of the third quarter of 2005. They will be deployed by SNTG’s Tank Container Division (STC) on worldwide routes for the carriage of foodstuffs and chemicals.

Commenting on the purchase, Michael W Kramer, STC managing director, said, “Our decision to augment STC’s fleet is directly attributable to the strong and growing demand in the global marketplace, as well as our continuing efforts to expand our foodgrade business.
