Africa Global Logistics (AGL), which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Geneva-based Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), has had its bid to develop and operate container and multipurpose cargo-handling facilities in the Angola’s second largest port, Lobito, approved by the government.

A European consortium of Portuguese and Belgian companies has won a 30-year concession to provide rail services and supporting logistics for the Lobito Corridor, connecting mines in DRC to the Port of Lobito in Angola

The governments of Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have agreed to build a joint container processing centre at Luau, beside the Benguela Railway, on their common border. The DRC government hopes to attract investment for upgrading the ageing extension of the Benguela Line into its territory, where it has historically been used to carry copper and other mining industry commodities from Katanga to the Angolan port of Lobito.

CMA CGM and Luanda-based Multiparques Group have signed a series of agreements that will result in the two companies jointly investing in and operating a new container and freight transport depot near the port of Lobito, Angola. The deal also provides a platform on which the companies can launch a range of other logistics services.
